ARTICLE 19 invites you to a cultural evening of literature, music and discussion from Iranians living in exile at the London Interfaith Centre 125 Salusbury Road London NW6 6RG
ARTICLE 19 welcomes its distinguished guests to an evening of music, literature and discussions on the place of art and media in today’s Iran, featuring:
Ms. Ziba Karbassi – Published poet born in Tabriz, Iran. Fleeing Iran in 1989, Ziba sought refuge in London, where she now lives. Described as ‘the rising star of Persian poetry,’ Ziba has published five collections of poetry.
Dr. Hossien Bagher Zadeh – An acclaimed journalist, human rights campaigner and political commentator, Hossein currently resides in the United Kingdom.
Mr Ali Torshizi – A musician and teacher who plays Persian classical music on the dombak, Ali has been living in London for the past four years. He will be accompanied by another musician yet to be confirmed.
Ms Tahirih Danesh – A human rights researcher and documenter, specialising in Baha’i persecution, Tahirih has spoken and written extensively on the plight of this minority.
Mr Ghazi Rabihavi – A playwright, novelist and short story writer, Ghazi has produced many plays all over the world.
Ms Maryam Ashrafi – A photographer who will be displaying photos from her current project Drug and Harm Reduction in Iran in the foyer.
