I Love Beirut is a fundraising evening of the arts that will be held in the ADAM STREET PRIVATE MEMBERS CLUB on Adam Street (off the Strand), London, on Lebanese Independence Day (November 22, 2006). It will feature live music from the likes of Guy Manoukian, the acoustic soul of Alison David, Mozez, who has lent his smooth vocals to Zero7’s albums, and other brilliant acts, plus two great Lebanese DJs spinning through the night. There will be paintings from the up-and-coming British artist Tom Young, amongst other exciting artists, whose work captures the spirit of Lebanon. And there will be a film festival, featuring a selection of films curated by ..ne.a beyrouth. There will be experimental documentaries, videos about the July events, and critically acclaimed short fictions such as ‘Aftershave’, directed by Hany Tamba, which won a César in 2006 for Best Short Film. There will even be an auction where you will be able to obtain an expenses-paid holiday to Beirut (!!!), courtesy of Middle East Airways, and some of Tom Young’s superb artwork, as well as other unmissable items! Full details appear in ‘Movies’. There will be many other great items up for raffle, like dinners for two at such places as Knightsbridge’s trendy Ishbilia Lebanese restaurant. Plus you can buy some brilliant I Love Beirut clothing while you’re at the event. All proceeds of course go straight to charity! Check out the ‘Interests’ section for more info on who we’re donating to. This is a fundraising event not to miss!
