The Citizens Against Terror website is built on innovative distributed-translation technology. No single language is dominant, instead articles can be originated and edited in any combination of languages supported by the site. An article may start out in Arabic, be translated into English, then edited in English and translated back into Arabic. The technology ensures that people visiting the site see coordinated content regardless of the language they speak.
The Citizens Against Terror website builds on multilingual collaborative wiki technology. Any user may submit changes to existing pages, translation of existing content or new articles. A group of editors vet these changes before they are made visible. If a collaborator consistently submits useful material they can be made into an editor and contribute towards the running of the site. This loosely-distributed network of collaboration will help the site to grow rapidly without being overwhelmed by unhelpful or biased information.
The Arabic version of this site is due to be launched in the near future, with further languages to follow.
